As Kolkata struggles to recover from the aftermath of recent torrential rains ahead of Durga Puja, a major fire broke out at the Blue Cherry Guest House on Anwar Shah Road on Wednesday, triggering fresh concern in a city already battling disruption.
Three fire engines rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control swiftly.
According to the fire department, no one was trapped inside, and no injuries have been reported. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The downpour left major roads and marketplaces waterlogged, with key commercial hubs such as New Market, Gariahat, Hatibagan, Burrabazar, and College Street either shuttered or difficult to access.
