In a horrific incident marked by reckless speeding and blatant negligence, an SUV driver in Tamil Nadu struck and knocked down three motorcycles on Tuesday, yet failed to stop even after one of the motorcycles became lodged under the vehicle’s bonnet and was dragged for nearly a kilometre along the road.
According to preliminary investigations, the SUV had collided with three motorcycles, resulting in injuries to six individuals, said police.
CCTV footage from the Walajah tollbooth on the Vellore-Chennai highway clearly shows the SUV dragging a motorcycle that was stuck on its front bumper.
After passing through the toll booth gate, the vehicle continued moving with the motorcycle still lodged on its bonnet for approximately 500 metres before finally coming to a halt. At that point, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the injured victims behind.
The injured were taken to the government hospital for treatment. Authorities are actively pursuing leads in their ongoing search for the driver responsible for this reckless act.
