In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the suspicious death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore, his cousin and Assam Police Service (APS) officer Sandipan Garg has been arrested. He was present with Zubeen at the time of the incident.
Sandipan was taken into custody following a series of interrogations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He had earlier been questioned alongside several of the late singer’s close associates.
Sandipan Garg will be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court today.
The 52-year-old singer was known for his Bollywood and Assamese songs, died in Singapore on September 19 while swimming near an island. He had gone on a yacht outing while he was visiting the country to perform at the North East India Festival.
Before Sandipan Garg, the police arrested four other including – the singer’s bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, manager Siddharth Sharma, event organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, and musician Amritprava Mahanta.
